[ They've seen Cloud around the neighbourhood, at least, and they can tell this is the guy Ayaka called up less than an hour ago.

With Ayaka having sat back down, the policemen look at one another before nodding. He'll let the guy at the desk handle this.

The man gets up. Ayaka gets to witness it all.

"A statue was stolen and found in the Kamisato residence. No one else could have stolen it but someone from that residence."

So... her. Ayato wasn't around at that time. ]

What was stolen? And what time?

[ Clear. Matter of fact. Cloud wants to get to the bottom of this as badly as the authorities do. But he waits for his opportune moment. ]

[ The cop checks the report again so he can reiterate the facts properly.

He first talks about the Iyarashii Ryu, the shop in Shinjuku that is owned by a travelled old woman. Bla bla bla, then he shows Cloud a photographic print of the entrance of the shop. See? Giant dick.

Then he shows another photo of the entrance without the statue outside!

"This was reported to us at 10:30 pm, and the police in Shinjuku were at the scene by 10:40 pm."

Then, another photo of what might be familiar to Cloud— the garden of the Kamisato Estate. Though it may take some time to figure out where exactly in the estate this is, given the lack of colour. The statue sits underneath the giant tree in the garden.

"Eyewitnesses reported at around 5:47 am of a figure leaving the estate. The neighbours thought it suspicious, so we requested entry from Miss Kamisato. It was then we found what was reported in the news.

Since our suspect is in Kyoto, we've requested Shinjuku police that we handle this for now."

Ayaka listens the whole time, looking away when the policeman mentions entering the estate. It's true that that was what happened, but she had just gotten out of bed and was preparing tea when she heard voices outside. ]

A giant di- [ Exasperated sigh goes here. Why would they even think that someone like Ayaka would even want that?! Why would she compromise her brother's status in this world, let alone her own? But he still listens nonetheless as he observes the photos, brow furrowed as he patiently scrutinizes the pictures.

They even invaded the privacy of her home... But thinking about it...from a logical standpoint. They have to start somewhere. It only made sense that they had to question the homeowner if a stolen statue was found in her estate. A suspect? Yes. Guilty? No. But it stands to reason they at least needed to get their facts straight and question whoever was involved. Hence the reason why Ayaka was being kept here since this morning. ]

I see.

[ Too bad Cloud doesn't give a shit. ]

You say it was stolen approximately around or before 10:30 p.m. that night. Right?

[ And should that be reiterated by the officer? ]

[ His arms cross. ]

Are you aware of Miss Kamisato's occupations? One as a preschool teacher for— [ Insert name of local school here. ] —?

[ He sounds...very professional right now. Sterner. Wordier than normal. His usual penchant for shortening his sentences or skipping over verbal starters nowhere to be found. ]

[ If the cop has anything to say? It's cut off. It's drilling time. ]

Meaning by the time she was finished with every parent, she would have had to have packed her bags, walked home, walked all the way across to the other side of town just to steal a seven foot tall statue, and figure out a way to haul it home without anyone noticing.

Meaning that it's physically impossible for her to be your suspect.

[ CUT. ]

Did you have a search warrant? [ Oh what's this in my pocket? Nothing just some—CUT. ] I thought so.

[ Wait... That Kamisato Ayato?! But more importantly, with an unrattled swordsman staring the cop down, they must ask just exactly who this man is to have provided all this information and testimony on Ayaka's behalf. ]

[ Ayaka's never even seen Aether this intense, and she's seen him mad. Ayato being mad is different, and it's very different from Thoma. To see Cloud in a different light, regardless of the situation? She feels lucky. She's actually getting to know more about him!

The policeman looks at Ayaka and smiles, bowing profusely. "Well, Miss Kamisato, it seems like we won't need you detain you anymore! We're sorry for the trouble, but please keep your lines open in case we need to ask more things!"

With a nod to his partner, they just ask Ayaka to sign something and she's bidded goodbye, even handing her a nice... souvenir from the station!!! A notepad.

Ayaka doesn't really seem pleased with everything, but a Shirasagi Himegimi must do what a Shirasagi Himegimi should. Which is smile through it all. ]

Hopefully this matter will be resolved right away.

[ And for crying out loud, GET THE GIANT DICK OUT OF HER HOUSE

Once outside the police station, and away from much scrutiny? Ayaka can finally relax. Well, not completely, but she lets out a very tired sigh. ]

I'm sorry to make you come all the way here... I hope I didn't interrupt anything.

[ And as Cloud patiently waits, arms crossed the whole time whilst the Shirasagi Himegimi courteously signs the document and is given her little 'souvenir', his expression doesn't shift in the slightest. He remains stern. Not impressed. Not fully letting it sink in that he leaned into the whole "Trials Wife" thing to secure her release. And with a short, curt nod once she's officially free to go, before he leaves the station, he turns around and calls them out. ]

I want that dick gone tonight.

You didn't. [ Away from the station, and alone with her again as they're free to walk home together, he's back to his more softer yet honest self with her. But rather than head straight home since the station's not that far from the estate, first things first. ] Wanna order something to take home?

O- Oh, no... [ Ayaka's usually a lot more comfortable around Cloud, but she still feels bad about what happened. She'd been interrupted from her breakfast so she hasn't had anything to eat yet this morning when she was detained. She could use a snack! But she feels she's troubled Cloud more than enough for today.

She shakes her head. ]

That's quite alright. We don't have to get anything, unless there's something you want.

[ she's definitely holding back. Ayaka's going to be okay, Cloud! She'll get over this... but she also needs some time to be down about it. ]

[ He can feel a weight in his heart. But the fact he has her back and out of there in the first place is what he cares most about. ]

... [ He takes a step in to her, reaching to slip her hand in his and give it a squeeze. ] Alright. Let's go home.

[ It's not quite a forced smile, but it is a small one nonetheless. When Cloud gives her hand a squeeze, she looks at their hands for a moment before squeezing back. This is already making her feel a lot better. ]

Mm... won't you stay for tea, when we get there?

[ She assumes they're headed to the estate first and not his place. ]

I'll still for more than just that. [ A beat. ] If you want.

[ Yeah, Cloud's not planning on going anywhere until they're ready to call it a day. Or until he knows that she's going to be okay. ...preferably once he's made sure the team have indeed come to retrieve the statue. He wants to hear from Ayaka any time, but preferably not with a message that starts off with something like,

"Cloud... It's still here... (///￣ ￣///)" ]

After we've relaxed, we'll find out who was responsible.

I have not had a chance to speak with them, but they announced what they did on the network.

[ That they stole a statue! Though they didn't really say that they'd be putting the stolen statue elsewhere and not keeping it. ]

Oh... come to think of it? They wanted a chocobo.

[ With his free hand, he pulls out his magi-comm, having perfected flipping through things with one hand to turn it on. He's listening to her as she explains, such as when they mention wanting a chocobo? That...narrows things down quite a bit. ]

Couldn't be Noct...

[ Kidding? Maybe. Pulling a prank like this? Is this his way of getting back at him for the accursed sext last month? No. It's not. He knows this. Which is why as he replays the video of the anonymous man attempting to do their best Tseng impersonation... ]

[ Oh! That Shinra fellow - Cloud's mentioned him before! Ayaka is a stranger to the rest of the ones Cloud has mentioned, though if she were being honest, she'd be very hesitant to try and get to know Sephiroth. Rufus, too.

[ She sighs heavily. They're nearing the estate at least, and the neighbours don't seem to be giving her any funny looks. Maybe news travelled fast that she's innocent! ]

Also... would it be alright if you kept this between us? I don't want Ayato to know.

[ Maybe there'd still be time. It hasn't gotten dark yet. ]

Mm. [ He nods. ] The less he's gotta worry about, the better.

[ That and, well. Sparing Ayaka any further embarrassment. They'll tackle this situation later on, after they've had a chance to calm down. Cloud's already feeling calmer himself despite how thoroughly he dressed down the department. ]
